§ Mr. Martenasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is now the annual deficit in invisibles with the EEC.
§ Mr. Robert Sheldon,pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 20th July 1978], gave the following answer:
Figures for 1977 will be given in detail in "United Kingdom Balance of Payments 1967–77"—Pink Book—to be published at the beginning of September. 431W Present indications are that the United Kingdom had a deficit on invisibles—including Government transfer payments—with other member countries and the institutions of the EEC of around £300 million.
