asked the Lord President of the Council how many security guards and police were on duty on Thursday 6th July in the Palace of Westminster during the afternoon period; at what costs; and whether he will give an assurance that all visitors to the public galleries were screened and searched.

The total establishment of the security force in the Palace of Westminster is 219. This figure includes police, security officers and firemen. A proportion of this force was on duty on the afternoon of Thursday 6th July but a calculation of their salaries could he obtained only at disproportionate cost.
