asked the Secretary of State for Trade what is the level of import penetration by volume and value of the United Kingdom machine tool market at the latest date for which information is available.

§ Mr. Meacher
Import penetration of the United Kingdom machine tool market, measured as a ratio of the value of imports to home demand, in the calendar year 1977 was 46 per cent.
A measure in terms of volumes is not available.
