Mr. Jim Callaghanasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his policy with regard to the future provision of health centres in the Bury and Rochdale metropolitan county district.
§ Mr. MoyleBecause of their importance to the improvement of primary health care services, particularly in health deprived areas, I encourage the development of health centres by giving them high priority in capital allocations to all regional health authorities. It is for health authorities, in consultation with the appropriate local people, to draw up their own health centre programmes. The existing and planned health centre provision in Bury and Rochdale area health authorities is as follows:
