§ Mr. Allen McKayasked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will consider and take action to assist the British crane manufacturing industry which is currently facing intense and unfair competition from overseas producers who appear to be more strongly supported from public funds in their country of origin than is the case in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. CryerBritish crane manufacturers already have available to them the full range of Government schemes designed to assist industry, for example, for investment, product development and exporting. I know that many companies in this sector are making good use of these aids in the present difficult market situation. However, I am of course willing to consider whether we can help this sector further if my hon. Friend has new evidence of unfair and subsidised competition from overseas producers.
