The transfer last April of nearly 100,000 houses and associated properties from new town corporations to district councils under schemes made under the New Towns (Amendment) Act 1976 appears generally to have taken place smoothly. The transfer process is now being reviewed with the authorities concerned to see what lessons have been learned for the next round.
