§ Mr. Burdenasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what would be the current value of horses and ponies set by the Export of Horses and Ponies (Increase in Minimum Value) Order 1973 to compensate for the decline in the value of the £ sterling and the inflation that has taken place since 1973.
§ Mr. StrangThe figures are as follows:
£ Heavy draft horses 631.50 Vanner, Mule or Jennet 526.25 Ass 252.60 Pony over 12 hands (up to and including 14½ hands) 336.80 Pony not exceeding 12 hands (other than a pony of the Shetland breed not exceeding 10½ hands) 252.60 Pony of the Shetland breed not exceeding 10½ hands 126.30
§ Mr. Burdenasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when it is proposed to issue a, new order to increase the value of horses and ponies for export to bring their values into line with current prices.
§ Mr. StrangThe interests concerned are at present being consulted about proposals for increasing these minimum values based on Continental horsemeat prices. A new order will be made when their views have been considered.
