asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many recipients of (a) supplementary benefit and (b) family income supplement there were on 1st June 1978, 1st June 1977 and 1st June 1976.

Information for June is not obtained, but the table below gives the available information for the months stated:

able to distinguish clinically between those cases which arise from a person's occupation and those which do not. This distinction is not at present possible; and the direct link between an occupation and a disease must be established before a disease is prescribed as an industrial disease, since this attracts the preferential benefits of the industrial injuries scheme.
