§ Mr. Gryllsasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the United Kingdom contribution to the United Nation environmental programme of a case study on the cost and benefits from environmental protection; and what consultations he has had or intends to have with industry on this matter.
§ Mr. ShoreThe executive director of the United Nations has asked Governments to inform him by the end of September 1978 whether they will be prepared to participate in a co-ordinated programme of case studies aimed at ensuring that the benefits accruing from environmental protection measures are more clearly ascertained and given sufficient weight in decision making. My Department is currently studying how to respond to this request.
