§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Minister for the Civil Service whether, in implementation of the Boyle Committee report on top salaries either wholly or in part, he will take action to prevent these top paid civil servants retiring on indexed pensions and taking jobs in industry with which they have had business relationships during their Government-held appointments.
§ Mr. Charles R. MorrisThere are already rules providing for the scrutiny and approval of appointments to commercial organisations with which a retiring civil servant has had official contact. These are contained in the Civil Service pay and conditions of service code and establishment officers guide, copies of which are in the Library. There is also provision for the abatement of pension in certain circumstances, on which I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer I gave him on 21st November last.—[Vol. 939, c.488.]
