HC Deb 13 July 1978 vol 953 c733W
Mr. Noble

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will make a statement on discussions with European partners on the textile surveillance system introduced under the Multi-Fibre Arrangement.

Mr. Dell

There are three separate systems of surveillance: those of the EEC Commission, the United Kingdom industry, and Whitehall. All three are now in operation, as are similar systems in the other member states. In discussion with the Commission and with other member States we have continued to stress the importance that we attach to effective monitoring and surveillance. The Commission is keeping the system under review to see what improvements should be made in the light of experience.
