HC Deb 13 July 1978 vol 953 c777W
Mr. Kinnock

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what progress has been made in the provision of a new artificial limb and appliance centre to serve South Wales; and if he will make a statement about difficulties encountered by the area health authority in implementing its proposals for such a centre.

Mr. Alec Jones

Our intention is to provide new artificial limb and appliance centres as quickly as possible. Design work on the Swansea centre, which will be on the site of the new Morriston hospital, is proceeding according to plan. Building work should start early next year, and I hope that the centre will come into use early in 1980. Legal problems relating to the use of land at Rookwood, where we intend to situate the Cardiff centre, have not yet been resolved.
