asked Her Majesty's Government:

What, in the last five years, were the amounts of rates collected in (a) England and Wales (b) Scotland and (c) Northern Ireland; what was the total Inland Revenue received from collectors' offices in each of the three parts of the United Kingdom; and whether they will apportion the Customs and Excise revenue in a similar manner.

The above Inland Revenue figures are amounts actually collected in each part of the United Kingdom; the figures do not reflect taxes paid by residents in each part of the United Kingdom, since taxes paid by residents of one part are often collected in another part.

Figures for Customs and Exercise revenue apportioned on a similar basis are not available. The following table shows estimates of the amounts of Customs and Excise revenue paid by residents of each part of the United Kingdom from 1973–74 to 1977–78:
