§ Mr. Moonmanasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will publish in the Official Report details of the medical cover at the Eastern hospital, Hackney, London, E.9, for the 200 patients at weekends or evenings, in view of the fact that in these circumstances cardiac arrests have led to death.
§ Mr. MoyleThe Eastern hospital caters for very elderly and psycho-geriatric patients and has no acute beds. Medical cover is provided by two consultants on call, a resident registrar and other resident medical staff situated at Hackney hospital, which is on the opposite side of the road to the Eastern. There have been no reports of deaths following cardiac arrest because of lack of medical cover.
