§ 14. Miss Joan Lestorasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what financial assistance is available to enable relatives of children in long-term hospital care to make regular visits.
§ Mr. DeakinsLocal authorities have certain powers to assist parents to visit their children in hospital. There are also voluntary organisations willing to help, and some hospitals make private funds available. For parents on supplementary benefit, the cost of regular visits to a child in hospital is taken into account when entitlement to benefit is assessed.
