§ Mr. James Johnsonasked the Minister of Overseas Development what response Her Majesty's Government are making to the recent appeal by the International Committee of the Red Cross for immediate humanitarian relief in Zaire.
§ Mr. TomlinsonWe have agreed, subject to approval by Parliament to make an immediate contribution of £30,000 to this appeal. Parliamentary approval will be sought in the winter Supplementary Estimates for the overseas aid Vote. Pending that approval the necessary expenditure will be met by repayable advances from the Contingencies Fund.
