§ 69. Dr. M. S. Millerasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will introduce legislation to seek to restrict the maximum speed of heavy goods vehicles to 50 mph on all roads.
§ Mr.HoramHeavy goods vehicles are at present subject to a speed limit of 40 mph except on motorways, where a 60 mph limit applies to goods vehicles with an unladen weight exceeding three tons and the general 70 mph limit to other goods vehicles. We have no plans to propose any reduction in the limits applicable to goods vehicles on motorways.
