§ Mr. GoldingAt 8th June, 1,381,403 people were registered as unemployed in Great Britain. After allowance is made for seasonal factors, and excluding school leavers, the level of unemployment in June stood at 1,304,600–5.6 per cent. 107W of employees—having fallen over each of the last nine months. This decline is welcome, but future prospects will depend on our ability to keep down the level of inflation, encourage a revival of world trade and promote greater competitiveness for British industry in domestic and overseas markets.
