§ Mr. Les HuckfieldAssuming each post to be held by a married man with no dependent children, the net salaries of the chairman, deputy chairman and members of the board of the British Steel10W Corporation in 1972 were £12,735.08, £10,615.06 and £9,420.50 respectively, the last figure being calculated from the average of the salaries of full-time members. The comparable figures for 1978 in real terms, using 1972 as the base year, are £5414, £5066 and £4863 respectively. The Iron and Steel Act 1975 lays down that the Corporation shall consist of a chairman, and not less than seven or more than 20 other members. At the moment there are nine members other than the chairman.
