§ Mr. Hoyleasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will publish in the Official Report details of the national textile contracts placed by the supplies section of his Department for each of the years from 1974 to 1977 inclusive; and if he will show the amount of the total contract which was spun and woven in the United Kingdom, and the total from abroad, for each year in square yards and monetary value.

1. Contracts for textiles spun woven and finished in the United Kingdom were placed by my Department as follows:
1974–75 value 535,166 square yards £334,500 1975–76 value 1,563,792 square yards £1,110,700 1976–77 value 975,000 square yards £720,000 No textile contract during these years involved the purchase of textiles spun or woven abroad.
2. Contracts for uniforms with the cloth spun woven and finished in the United Kingdom were placed by my Department as follows:
1974–5 value 2,545 uniforms £33,705 1975–76 value 2,545 uniforms £33,705 1976–77 value 2,640 uniforms £46,656 No uniform contract during these years involved the purchase of textiles spun or woven abroad.
