HC Deb 30 January 1978 vol 943 c25W
Mr. Rooker

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if the interest paid by Republic of Ireland banks to British citizens is declared to the British Inland Revenue.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

British residents making returns of income for United Kingdom tax purposes are required to declare this form of income as well as others. Moreover, branches of Irish banks trading in the United Kingdom may, in common with other banks, be called upon to make returns to the Inland Revenue giving details of interest paid or credited to their customers.
