§ Mr. Pattieasked the Minister of Overseas Development (1) where the new premises of the Directorate of Overseas Surveys in Glasgow will be located; and when they will be ready for occupation;
(2) whether a date has been set for moving the Directorate of Overseas Surveys from Tolworth to Glasgow; and what that date is;
(3) how many staff of the Directorate of Overseas Surveys have indicated their willingness to transfer to Glasgow; and how many refuse to transfer.
§ Mr. TomlinsonAs I stated in reply to my hon. Friend the Member for East Kilbride (Dr. Miller) on 26th January—[Vol. 942, c.744]—the question of an exact location within the Glasgow area is under consideration. It is not yet possible to say when the premises will be ready or to give a date for the move. At a later stage individual members of the staff will be asked to indicate their willingness to move.
§ Mr. Pattieasked the Minister of Overseas Development how much it will cost to move the Directorate of Overseas Surveys from Tolworth to Glasgow.
§ Mr. TomlinsonI call attention to the reply to the hon. Member for Sutton and Cheam (Mr. Macfarlane) on 15th November 1976.—[Vol. 919, c. 331.]
§ Mr. Pattieasked the Minister of Overseas Development what are the estimated savings of moving the Directorate of Overseas Surveys from Tolworth to Glasgow.
§ Mr. TomlinsonSavings are expected on accommodation costs and on London weighting on pay, but the main objective is to bring economic and social benefits to one of the hardest hit areas of the country and to improve the job situation there.
