HC Deb 30 January 1978 vol 943 cc45-6W
Mr. Onslow

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he still considers it necessary for information relating to cervical cytology to be analysed on the basis of social class, as determined by the occupation of the husband or father of the woman concerned.

Mr. Moyle

The request on the national cervical cytology form for the occupation of the husband or, if she is unmarried, that of the patient, is for research purposes. This information has provided valuable evidence on the incidence of cervical cancer in relation to social class and occupation, but the need for it is currently under review.
