§ Mr. Silvesterasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what was the cost to Her Majesty's Government in the latest 12 months for which figures are available of dealing with individual applications against the United Kingdom lodged with the European Commission on Human Rights.
§ Mr. Judd,pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 23rd January 1978; Vol. 942, c. 449], gave the following information.
The latest 12 months for which figures are available are the financial year April 1975 to March 1976. During this period hearings were held before the European Commission of Human Rights of two individual applications against the United Kingdom. The cost of these hearings to Her Majesty's Government was £9,021.02.
