§ Mr. Corrieasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will consider lending money at lower interest rates than those at present available to farmers so that more young farmers have the opportunity to buy their own farms.
§ Mr. StrangYoung farmers wishing to purchase their own farms have access to the facilities of the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation and the major clearing banks in the usual way. The recent substantial lowering of commercial interest rates will be of significant benefit to those seeking loans for this purpose. I have at present no plans to provide special assistance for land purchase.
