§ Mr. Freudasked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) when the premises of Swift (Chemicals) of Chatteris were last visited by the Health and Safety Inspectorate; and how often they have been visited by inspectors since 1975;
(2) whether he will seek powers to ensure that inspection of industrial premises is effected before production recommences after a major fire;
(3) whether it is the practice of the Health and Safety Inspectorate to re-examine industrial premises after a major conflagration such as occurred at Swift (Chemicals) of Chatteris, in October 1977;
(4) whether he is satisfied that the two fires within three months at Swift (Chemicals) Chatteris were not occasioned by industrial negligence;
(5) if he is satisfied with the monitoring carried out by the Health and Safety Inspectorate, in view of the two fires at Swift (Chemicals) Limited, Chatteris; and if he will seek to amend the Health and Safety at Work Act so as to provide for more frequent inspections at plants using highly inflammable raw materials.
