§ Mr. William Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many wages council increases under stage 3 of the incomes policy have been officially opposed on the grounds that the 10 per cent. guideline has been breached; and what steps he intends to take to end this discrimination against low-paid workers.
§ Mr. John GrantRepresentations have been made to 14 wages councils whose proposals exceeded 10 per cent. on basic rates, requesting them to re-examine their proposals and consider what amendments were necessary.
There is no discrimination. The guidelines apply to workers covered by wages councils in the same way as they apply to other workers.
