§ Mr. Hefferasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will name the members of the committee dealing with the inner city problem of Liverpool; how often the committee has met; and what progress is being made.
§ Mr. ShoreI take the chair of the Liverpool Inner City Partnership Committee. Its members are:
- Ministerial representatives of the following Departments:
- Department of Industry
- Department of Employment/Manpower Services Commission
- Department of Health and Social Security
- Department of Education and Science
- Department of Transport
- Home Office; and
- Councillor D. Hamilton, Leader, Liverpool City Council
- Councillor E. D. Roderick, Liverpool City Council
- Councillor T. Jones, Liverpool City Council
- Councillor S. Airey, Liverpool City Council
- Councillor Sir K. Thompson, Leader, Merseyside County Council

- Councillor W. H. Sefton, Merseyside County Council
- Mr. T. Roberts, Chairman, Liverpool Area Health Authority.
- Officials also attend.
The committee has met once, and agreement has been reached on the area for priority and on the arrangements for drawing up a joint inner area programme. Officers have started work on this, and there have been discussions with local groups about community involvement. The next meeting will be on 20th February.
