§ Mr. Fauldsasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will give a general direction to those nationalised industries for which he is the sponsoring Minister that they should meet the quota of 3 per cent. employment of disabled people since, as revealed by the Department of Employment Gazette, they currently do not do so.
§ Mr. ShoreThis is a matter for each industry subject to the exemption provisions of the Disabled Persons (Employment) Act 1944 regarding suitable occupations. It would not be appropriate for me to issue a general direction, but the 511W nationalised industries for which I am responsible know that I am very anxious that they should play their full part in providing employment opportunities for the disabled.
