§ Mr. Fauldsasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she will set up an inquiry into the need for a national conservation centre, in view of the growing and informed concern about the condition of a large and increasing number of museum objects in collections throughout the country.
§ Mr. OakesThe matter has been very carefully considered over recent years. I am satisfied that the needs of museums and galleries can more effectively be met by arrangements under which the training of conservators takes place in association with the national and local collections.
