§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsJust over 900, of whom 640 are being supported by awards financed through the Training Services Agency under the scheme announced by my Department in May last year. The remaining 260 are newly qualified teachers following retraining courses in one of the shortage subjects with mandatory or discretionary awards from their local education authorities.
