§ Mr. McCuskerasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many road accidents occurred in Northern Ireland between 23rd December 1977 and 3rd January 1978; how many of these resulted in death or injury; and of these how many of the people involved were wearing seat belts.
§ Mr. CarterProvisional figures show that between 23rd December 1977 and 3rd January 1978 there were 146 road accidents in Northern Ireland in which 15 persons were killed and 217 injured. Of 138 front-seat occupants of motor vehicles who were either killed or injured six were wearing seat belts.
