§ Mr. Ovendenasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a further statement arising from his reply to the hon. Member for Gravesend on the level of grants made to Kent under Section 11 of the Local Government Act 1966.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesI regret that the reply of 20th June 1977—[Vol. 933, c.391–2]—to a Question by my hon. Friend which was printed in the Official Report 6W contained figures which represented the expenditure estimated by Kent County Council as being eligible for Section 11 grant and not those for the amount of grant payable. Grant is payable at the rate of 75 per cent. of eligible expenditure. As a result the total estimated grant payable to Kent County Council under Section 11 of the Local Government Act 1966 in 1977–78 is £47,540. This figure includes the costs of education staff. It is estimated that grant paid on such staff by district in 1977–78 and the previous year will be as follows:
