§ Mr. Spriggsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people succeeded with claims for criminal injuries compensation in each of the last three years, respectively: and how 785W many of these made further claims as a result of further aggravation of their original injuries.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesThe number of awards made by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board in each of the last three complete financial years was:
1974–75 10,708 1975–76 11,500 1976–77 13,951 Following an award by the Board a further claim for the same injury cannot normally be considered. Exceptionally, however, where at the time of making the award there is a foreseeable risk that an affliction such as epilepsy might arise in the future, the Board may undertake to review the award in the event of such a development. There have been only about 50 such cases to date and in only one of these has a further claim arisen.
