§ Mr. Whiteheadasked the Secretary of State for Transport whether he will make a statement about the Council of Transport Ministers of the European Community that met on 20th–21st December 1977.
§ Mr. William RodgersThe Council agreed to broaden the Commission's mandate for negotiations with third countries about common rules for international occasional services by bus and coach, to increase by 20 per cent. the Community quota for the international carriage of goods by road, and to add some minor items to the categories of international road transport which are free of permit and quota control. The Council also 767W adopted an improved procedure for consultation on transport infrastructure projects of Community interest and took note of the Commission's work programme up to the end of 1980. There was an exchange of views on various other issues, including proposals for a Community driving licence.
