HL Deb 23 February 1978 vol 389 cc353-4WA
Lord TREFGARNE

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will list the types of aircraft presently on the British register which do not comply with ICAO Annex 16 noise requirements.

Lord ORAM

The following types of subsonic jet presently on the British register do not comply with ICAO Annex 16 noise requirements:

Boeing

  • 707
  • 720
  • 727
  • 737 (Some variants might be entitled to noise certification)
  • 747 (most of these are noise certificated)

British Aircraft Corporation

  • VC-10
  • 1–11

Dassault

  • Mystere 20/Falcon

Grumman

  • Gulfstream II

Hawker Siddeley

  • HS-125 (except the -600 and -700 series)
  • Trident
  • Cornet

Learjet

  • 25

McDonnel Douglas

  • DC-8

It is not practicable to list all the types of propeller driven aircraft on the British register which do not comply with these standards. There are no ICAO noise standards for supersonic jet aircraft or for helicopters.
