§ 24. Mr. James Lamondasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if the United Kingdom continues to support the efforts by the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics to ban the first use of radiological weapons.
§ Mr. LuardWe favour a convention prohibiting the development, production, stockpiling and use of radiological weapons. This is specified as one of the priority negotiations for completion over the next few years in the draft programme of action submitted by the United Kingdom and other Western States for adoption by the United Nations Special Session on Disarmament. We hope that the current talks between the United States and the Soviet Union on such a convention will lead to a successful outcome.
