§ Dr. OwenThe Government believe that the way is open for a settlement of the Middle East problem, based on the principles set out in Resolutions 242 and 338 and in the European Council statement of 29th June 1977. I plan to visit 711W Jordan and Israel this weekend to continue the contacts which my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister and I have had with the parties to the negotiations.
