HC Deb 20 February 1978 vol 944 c460W
Mr. MacGregor

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what were the actual allocations made in the housing investment programme for 1978–79 as a proportion of the bids made as between the three blocks, namely (a) new house building, council house improvements and municipalisation, (b) improvement grants and council mortgages and (c) housing associations; and if he will give these proportions for England and Wales as a whole, for Breckland District Council and for South Norfolk District Council.

Mr. Armstrong

The following is the information:

immigrants in the London borough of Newham has increased from 28,000 to a figure between 42,000 and 46,000, and that this is causing problems with regard to overcrowding, and other housing problems, what action he has taken, or will take, to resolve these problems.

Mr. Armstrong

The allocations made to the London borough of Newham for housing investment in 1978–79 take account of the overall needs of the borough as expressed in the housing investment strategy and programme which the council submitted to the Department.
