HC Deb 20 February 1978 vol 944 cc524-5W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he is aware that some miners are claiming special payments for interference with their sex lives due to their unsocial hours; whether such payments fall within the 10 per cent. guidelines; whether all employers who adopt such payments will be in contravention of the guidelines; and how he will monitor and enforce a restriction on such payments.

Mr. Harold Walker

As part of the general wage claim, I understand that a claim was put forward for an improvement in all allowances including allowances for working unsocial hours. The question of allowances has now been deferred as a result of the general wage settlement of 15th February.

In answer to the remainder of the Question, I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave to his further Questions being answered today.
