§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if, in view of the remarks by Mr. Justice Pain in the case of Mrs. Yvonne Jones, he will arrange for an independent inquiry into the conduct of the police in this case; and what action has been taken against the officers concerned.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesI understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that complaints have been made against officers of his force concerned in this case. These will be investigated in accordance with the provisions of Section 49 of the Police Act 1964. The question of taking action against any of the officers will, of course, depend on the outcome of that investigation.
