Mr. Les Huckfield

I understand from British Shipbuilders that Sunderland Magnetic Ltd. employs 27 people, and that the companies referred to in the other Questions have no employees. All are within the definition of relevant company in the Shipbuilding (Redundancy Payments) Bill, but the eligibility of their employees to benefits under the Bill will depend on the terms of the order.

Mr. Trotter

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what is the range of entitlement to length of service payments for each year from the minimum of one week for two years' service to 80 weeks for 25 years' service under his proposed scheme for redundancy in British Shipbuilders and Harland and Wolff.

Mr. Les Huckfield

Details of the range will be the subject of further consultation with British Shipbuilders, Harland and Wolff and the Confederation of Shipbuilding and Engineering Unions.
