§ Mr. EadieThe nuclear power stations operated by the CEGB and the SSEB—which is the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland, with their commissioning dates, are listed below.

The Magnox stations were designed to have an operating life of 20 full power years; that is, years running continuously at designed power rating. However, operating experience in conjunction with studies being made by the generating boards and the UKAEA indicate that this life expectancy will be exceeded. AGR stations have been designed with an operational life of 25 full power years.
