HC Deb 15 February 1978 vol 944 cc280-1W
Mr. Onslow

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how soon a non-priority applicant for a United Kingdom entry visa at the United Kingdom High Commission, Islamabad, can now expect to be called for interview.

Mr. Tomlinson

Although it is not possible to say definitely so far in advance, non-priority dependants applying now for a settlement visa at the British Embassy, Islamabad, are expected to have to wait approximately 22 months for an interview. Male fiances are likely to have to wait about 26 months.

Mr. Onslow

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many of the total number of dependants, husbands and fiances awaiting interview at Islamabad for United Kingdom entry certificates on 31st December 1975, 30th June 1976, 31st December 1976, 30th June 1977 and 31st December 1977 were (a) husbands and (b) fiances.

Mr. Tomlinson

Separate statistics on the number of husbands and fiances awaiting interview in Islamabad were not recorded in 1975 and 1976. There were 59 husbands and 829 fiances awaiting interview on 30th June 1977, and 50 husbands and 970 fiances on 31st December 1977.
