HC Deb 15 February 1978 vol 944 cc259-60W
Mr. Moonman

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what guidance he has issued to hospitals on the use of waste disposal machines which grind up recyclable food, and pump the resultant slurry into the main sewers using large amounts of water.

Mr. Moyle

None. It is for the responsible health authority to arrange for the disposal of food waste in the manner which is most appropriate in the light of local circumstances. The need for new guidance on hospital catering departments and their equipment is, however, to be reviewed.
