§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will give the number of charitable or voluntary organisations which are not Government controlled which receive financial assistance from Exchequer sources, direct or indirect, and the amounts of moneys paid; and what system of control on the expenditure of such funds is carried out by the Government.
§ Mr. Joel BarnettI regret that it would involve a disproportionate amount of time and money to provide a detailed reply, but I can assure my hon. Friend that the Government Departments concerned are normally responsible for seeing that Government moneys are properly spent.
