HL Deb 08 February 1978 vol 388 c1148WA
Lord HOUGHTON of SOWERBY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What would be the approximate saving in the cost of the Inland Revenue Department if corporation tax were to be abolished.

Baroness BIRK

On a broad attribution to corporation tax of the Inland Revenue's costs of administering the taxes on income, profits and capital gains, the estimated saving would be of the order of £18 million.
