HC Deb 06 February 1978 vol 943 c448W
Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what are the current pupil-teacher ratios for primary, secondary and grammar schools in Northern Ireland; and how these figures compare with five and 10 years ago.

Mr. Carter

The information needed to calculate pupil-teacher ratios for the current school year is not yet available. The following sets out the pupil-teacher ratios for 1976–77 and for five and 10 years ago:

months on the east and west banks, respectively, of the River Foyle in Londonderry;

(2) how many armoured vehicles, and how many Hotspur-type Landrovers are now available to the Royal Ulster Constabulary in Londonderry and in the rest of Northern Ireland;

(3) how many self-loading rifles are available to the Royal Ulster Constabulary in Londonderry; how often they have been carried during the last three months by Royal Ulster Constabulary patrols on the east and west banks of Londonderry, respectively; how many carbines are available to the Royal Ulster Constabulary in Londonderry; and how often they have been carried by Royal Ulster Constabulary patrols on the east and west bank, respectively, during the last three months.

Mr. Dunn

For obvious security reasons I am not prepared to give information of this kind.
