HC Deb 02 February 1978 vol 943 c255W
Mr. Dykes

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what new proposals for 1978 he has currently under consideration for further assistance of different kinds to registered disabled persons.

Mr. Alfred Morris

The needs of the disabled and the services and help provided for them are kept under constant consideration. Specific action already planned includes the extension of the mobility allowance to disabled people between 55 and pension age and further extension of the behind-the-ear hearing aid programme. My Department's publication "Priorities in the Health and Social Services—The Way Forward" has recently drawn paticular attention to the requirements of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970 and has emphasised to authorities the importance of services provided under Section 2 of the Act.
