§ Mr. George Rodgersasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has yet received the report of the working party to review the criminal injuries compensation scheme.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesThe working party has now submitted its report to the Secretary of State for Scotland and myself, and arrangements are in hand for its pub284W lication. This will provide an opportunity for individuals and organisations, particularly those who submitted evidence to the working party, to make observations, if they wish, on the recommendations in the report. Before coming to any conclusions, we shall take into account not only the working party's proposals and observations on them but also any relevant proposals which may be made by the Royal Commission on Civil Liability and Compensation for Personal Injury. I understand that the Royal Commission, which has been considering a much wider problem than criminal injuries compensation, hopes to report very soon.
